Level 2 is where you move beyond the foundations of hypnosis and begin developing a much broader, more versatile therapeutic toolkit. You learn different hypnotic modalities and approaches—including Ericksonian and Kappasinian Hypnosis—while developing deeper skills in Dream Therapy, Hypno-Diagnostic Tools, Hypnodrama, Grief work, fear, phobia and anxiety management, pain management, NLP, IEMT and Emotional Empowerment Techniques (Tapping).
You also begin understanding clients more comprehensively through developmental psychology, behavioural patterns and diagnostic cues rather than relying on a single technique for every issue. The result is greater therapeutic flexibility, clinical insight and confidence—helping you choose and adapt the right intervention for the individual client and preparing you for the deeper regression and trauma work of Level 3.

What You Will Learn in Depth
Advanced Hypnotic Approaches
Explore different ways hypnosis works and learn to move beyond a purely direct, scripted approach. You study Ericksonian Hypnosis, including indirect suggestion, metaphor, permissive language and the Milton Model, alongside the more structured and individualised Kappasinian approach.
The objective is to become more flexible in the way you communicate with and guide different clients.
Dream Therapy & Understanding the Client
Learn how dreams can reveal emotional conflicts, unresolved material and subconscious patterns, and how to interpret dreams within the client’s own personal context rather than through fixed symbols.
You also study stages of development, behavioural patterns and other cues that help you understand how earlier experiences may continue to shape present-day responses.
Hypno-Diagnostic & Therapeutic Tools
Learn practical tools that help uncover what may lie beneath the client’s presenting problem. These include Ideomotor Responses, Corrective Therapy, Paris Window, Body Syndromes and other Hypno-Diagnostic approaches.
The purpose is not merely to ask, “What is the problem?” but to begin identifying what is maintaining it at the subconscious level.
Hypnodrama & Therapeutic Rehearsal
Hypnodrama allows clients to rehearse new responses in hypnosis before facing situations in real life. It can be used for performance anxiety, public speaking, difficult conversations, confidence-building, relationship issues and behavioural change.
You learn how imagination, emotion and hypnotic rehearsal can help create a new internal experience rather than simply giving positive suggestions.
Fears, Phobias, Anxiety & Grief
Learn to distinguish between different forms of fear and anxiety and select an appropriate intervention. Techniques include Desensitisation, Systematic Desensitisation, Hypnotic Extinction, Circle Therapy, Anchoring, Hypnodrama and Ego-Strengthening.
You also learn to work with grief through an understanding of the Five Stages of Loss, while recognising that every person’s grieving process is individual.
NLP, IEMT & Emotional Empowerment
Level 2 introduces additional therapeutic approaches that can be integrated with hypnosis.
You learn practical NLP techniques such as reframing, anchoring, timeline work and the Swish Pattern; Integrated Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) for working with emotional patterns and internal representations; and Emotional Empowerment Technique (EET) for reducing emotional intensity and supporting regulation.
From Techniques to Therapeutic Flexibility
One of the most important lessons of Level 2 is that different clients require different approaches.
A technique that works beautifully with one client may not work with another. Effective hypnotherapy therefore requires observation, adaptability and the ability to select or combine interventions according to the client’s personality, suggestibility, presenting issue and therapeutic response.
Level 2 begins developing this flexibility—helping you move from simply performing hypnosis towards thinking more like a therapist.
Experiential Learning
The training combines theory with demonstrations, practice sessions, therapeutic exercises and client-ready techniques. You learn not only what each method is, but when and how it can be applied.
As with all IJSS training, your own growth and self-awareness remain an important part of becoming a more grounded, compassionate and effective therapist.
